He is also the third-generation Major League pitcher.
Coleman was not selected for the 2011 Spring Training team and was instead optioned to Triple-A Iowa. After the injuries sustained to Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner, Coleman was recalled to Chicago. He made his debut of the season against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 10.
On July 8, 2016, Coleman signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.
